Scribe Post for October 6, 2009

Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Hello everybody! Today in class we went over our homework from yesterday. If you didn't understand, here it is again.

We had to find the surface area of a cylinder. We were given the circumference of the circle which was 10 square units and we were also given the height which was 6 square units.

This is how you show your work.

At the end you must add the Surface Area of a Circle + Surface Area of rectangle = Surface Area of a cylinder.
We also had to glue the nets in our Journals if you haven't yet.

We worked on some new shapes. We were given the top view, the side view, and the front view. We were supposed to draw the full shape on paper.

And after that we were given a cylinder and we had to find the surface area but there was something in side of it.

Homework:
-1.2 Self-Assessment
- The How You Know You Know
-Find the Surface Area for the cylinder (up above)
-And you have to draw the shapes with all three views
-Journals
Thanks for reading, please leave a comment. For next scribe I choose Shaneille.

Great job! I think for the front view it should be 3 instead of 5. Also you could have labeled the shapes a and b. But overall great job!

Great scribe :), you explained what we learned in class, but you could of expanded more, maybe set the bar higher with a video or something. But great job once again!

- Some reason firefox won't let me comment ): I have to use internet explorer.

Good job. You might want to show the homework picture in more detail, but that's up to you.

Good job Zerlina! Excellent explanations and pictures. I agree with Simran, the last one (front view) should be 3,1,1 instead of 5,1,1. But, overall, you did well. :)

Hello All,

Don't forget I want to know the surface area of Thing A and Thing B. Just a little oversite on Zerlina's part. Keep up all your good blogging!!

Nice work Zerlina! The post was really well done, and you had great explanations. You forgot to label the height of the cylinder though (it should be 15units).

Thank you for the scribe Zerlina! I like your pictures, they were easy to see and read, and your overall scribe was very neat. Also, I like how you bolded the important words that we should know. But, one thing I would like to say is, I think you should have labeled the figures A and B and say that figure A and figure B are two different shapes. OH wait.. I think Simran already said that, so.. I also agree with her. GOOD JOB! (:

Hi Zerlina! Great job! Your explanations were pretty thorough and straight forward. This was really helpful to me because I missed some of the numbers on the shapes. I guess I don't need to mention that 5 on Thing B front view should be 3, but none the less, fantastic work! :D
