Hey everyone! On Thursday April 29, we learned about the term "Slope."
m = slope
y =[mx] + [b] y intercept
slope ^
Slope formula:
y2 - y1 = m
x2 - x1
Ex. (0.1, o.023)
(0.4, 0.092)
y2 - y1 = 0.092 - 0.023
x2 - x1 0.4 - 0.1
= 0.069
0.3
= 0.23
y intercept formula:
y - y1 = m (x-x)
Ex. (0.1, 0.023) (0.4, 0.092)
(x1, y1) (x2, y2)
y - y1 = m (x-x)
y - 0.023 = 0.23 (x-0.1)
y - 0.023 = 0.23x -0.023
y = 0.23x - 0.023 + 0.023
y = 0.23x

Scribe Post For January 18 2010
Tuesday, January 19, 2010
This is going to be a short scribe. On Jan 18, we got our math test back. We went over all the answers, and Mr. B helped answer questions. Helped fix our mistakes.

This is a question most of the class got wrong.

We had to figure out the formula.
A of Square = 4² m²
A of Cirlce = pi r²
= pi 2²
(2.2)= 2²(2²)
= 4²
Formula is 2²(2² - pi )

THE GAME
Tuesday, January 5, 2010
First you choose one of the many pennies taped to the board to be your game piece. Limited players only. Currently, there are only 4 players allowed to play at a time. We are trying to expand the game board so many others can perform at the same times.
Okay, here are the actual rules to this game.
1. Move on square
2. Roll the dice
3. You do the operation that is written on the square with the 2 numbers rolled (you can put them in any order)
4. If not answered correctly, you move back once, and if answered right you stay!
LAST RULE AND MOST IMPORTANT RULE: NO CALCULATORS
(Because this game is pretty easy to follow if you know what I mean)

Hey guys, during Friday's class we talked about Reciprocals.
Hmm what are reciprocals ? Well let me explain them to you.
Reciprocal - two factors that when multiplied will give the product of one.
For example,
(5/11)(11/5) = 1
(2/3)(3/2) = 1
3/4 x 4/3 = 1
Identity of one
- any number multiplied by one is itself
- any number divided by one is itself
Ex.
1 x 18 = 18
( one times a group of eighteen ) = eighteen
1/2 ÷ 1 = 1/2
So here are the steps if using reciprocals
1. find the reciprocal of the divisor
2. multiply the dividend and divisor by the reciprocal of the divisor
3. divisor becomes one, anything divided by one is itself
4. simplify if possible
So heres a question using a reciprocal
24/35 ÷ 3/7 = 24/35 x 7/3 ( 3/7 x 7/3 ) reciprocal
= 24/35 x 7/35
= 8 x 1/5
= 8/5
= 1 3/5

Question Number 25
Sunday, November 8, 2009
This is my blog post for my homework, question number 25.
25) Create a word problem that involves operations with rational numbers in decimal form. Make sure you can solve your problem. Then, have a classmate solve your problem.
A) Casey likes basketball. So he's on a basketball team. Casey goes to practice every Monday and Friday. He practices on Monday for 1.8 hours. On Friday he practices for 120 min. What is the difference between Monday and Friday's practices in minute form.
Solution) First you would convert Monday's hours into minutes. = 140 min.
Secondly you would then just subtract Friday's hours from Mondays, because Friday is already in minute from.
140 - 120 = 20 min.
20 min is the difference.
Please comment on my mistakes ! Thank you !
