a) Write an expression using rational numbers to represent the length of the pelican's dive.
b) How long is the pelican's dive?
Hi everyone!! Sorry, that this is a late post, but at least i did it :D
So, here are my answers for Question 12.
a) It says here that the pelican dives verically from a height of 3.8m above the water. (3.8) Then it says here that it then catches a fish 2.3m underwater. (-2.3). So, I think the expression using rational numbers to represent the length of the pelican's dive is 3.8-(-2.3)
b) For this one. I just added 3.8m to 2.3 like this 3.8+2.3. Then i got this for the answer 6.1m.
So, then this is the whole rational expression. 3.8-(-2.3)=6.1m
Well, that's all. Please comment on my mistakes. Thank you ! :D

Good effort Krissia. But, I suggest you check your math. Your first equation (in blue) was correct. But the second one in purple is wrong. I think you were suppose to multiply 3.8 and 2.3 together. Because since a negative multiplied by a negative is positive -(-2.3)= 2.3 .You should have left the parenthesis on the second equation, so you would know you're multiplying. Sorry if this comment doesn't help much. This is the best way I could explain it.
Hello Krissia! I agree with what Angela said. You should have also added a picture of a pelican diving (:
Great post krissia, I also agree with both angela and melissa, the second one was wrong but oh well nice try anyway and that picture suggestion would've made the post abit more interesting. 8D
Hey Krissia! :) Good work, next time I suggest you add some pictures to the post so that other people could understand the problem more. Also, since all of them ^ (angela, melissa, marc) found a mistake, you should read over your work before posting. Good job though! You'll do a great post next time. :D
